the 'handsome' woman...

'It sometimes happens that a woman is handsomer at twenty-nine than she was ten years before.' -Jane Austen

finding inner beauty sometimes comes later in life but i believe we generally find it nonetheless. we grow into our not-so-perfect features and our too-short-calves. we accept that it is OK to look absolutely nothing like the beautiful women we idolize. we pick small pieces of that eventual comfort through a variety of things: cosmetic counters at department stores, fitness videos, fad diets, and new shoes and handbags. but only the inner Self knows when one's own 'handsome woman' is found.

Almost pretty...

To look almost pretty is an acquisition of higher delight to a girl who has been looking plain for the first fifteen years of her life than a beauty from her cradle can ever receive.”- Jane Austen

The quote above captures the essence of my obsession with skincare and make-up. Clear dewey skin goes a long way in making a woman feel accomplished. :-)
